Board of Commissioners

The seven-member Board of Commissioners governs the Missoula Housing Authority and is responsible for establishing policy and approving MHA's annual budget. The Board of Commissioners also hires the Executive Director, who serves as the agency's Chief Executive Officer. The Executive Director oversees the day-to-day operations of the Housing Authority and implements policies and programs established by the Board.

Each board member is appointed by the Mayor of Missoula. Two of the seven member board are MHA resident commissioners who serve two-year terms. The other five commissioners are appointed from the general public and serve five-year terms.

Vacancy on the Missoula Housing Authority Board

The Mayor's Office is seeking an applicant to fill a vacancy on the Missoula Housing Authority (MHA) Board.  Qualifications include that this applicant be a veteran that is homeless or previously homeless, and they must have a voucher or currently reside in MHA housing.

Through creative partnerships and innovative development, the Missoula Housing Authority (MHA) provides quality housing solutions for low-income and middle-income households with a goal of stable housing, including home ownership and economic self-sufficiency. MHA plays an active and leading role as a housing advocate in Missoula and the surrounding area. MHA also collaborates creatively with multiple nonprofit and for-profit organizations, each playing distinct and vital roles to ensure that Missoula's housing solutions access every opportunity and leverage diverse tools and methods.

Meetings are held at the Missoula Housing Authority the third Wednesday of every month at 5:30 pm, and the term of office is two years.  Applicants applying for the board will interview with the mayor.
